Iran and Russia's foreign ministers met
Tianjin, July 15 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyid Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met in Tianjin, China, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.
Araghchi, referring to the political smear campaign launched by the US and some European countries against Iran following Israel’s and the US’s aggression, reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to defend the country and hold aggressors accountable. He emphasized Iran’s legitimate right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, including enrichment.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, for his part, reaffirmed his position of condemning illegal attacks against Iran, particularly those targeting peaceful nuclear facilities. He stressed the need to continue bilateral and multilateral consultations to prevent further escalation of tensions and distrust in the region and stated that Russia is ready to assist in this regard, especially in international platforms such as the UN Security Council.
