Harris: We need a meaningful, calm, measured, and comprehensive dialogue with the US
Dublin, May 23 (Hibya) – Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Defense, Simon Harris, made a statement regarding customs tariffs.
Harris stated that Ireland and the EU’s consistent position highlights the need for a meaningful, calm, measured, and comprehensive dialogue with the United States.
Stressing that customs tariffs are a bad idea, Harris said: “We have built a relationship of prosperity, jobs, and investment based on working and trading together. Negotiations remain a core focus for both the EU and Ireland, and our deep and lasting relationship with the US deserves more sustainable and substantial engagement in the period ahead to reach a negotiated solution.”
Harris emphasized that a negotiated solution clearly remains the goal and preferred outcome.
