Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Defence Minister Harris expressed that negotiations on future trade relations between the EU and the US are at a critical point.

He voiced cautious optimism about the possibility of reaching a joint agreement in the coming days to advance EU-US trade relations positively, stating:

“The EU has been conducting intensive negotiations with the US in recent weeks to achieve a result that removes unnecessary trade barriers. We have responded calmly and measuredly and I will continue consultations with the European Commission and other member states as the negotiation deadline approaches.”

Harris emphasized that EU unity is critically important now, and that reaching an agreement ensuring mutually beneficial trade relations with the US is also important, adding, “The time to reach an agreement has long since come.”
