Ghebreyesus: We continue to call for increased medical evacuations
Geneva, January 31 (Hibya) - World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that WHO welcomes the announcement that 50 patients will be medically evacuated from Gaza through the Rafah crossing tomorrow.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized that WHO welcomes the announcement that 50 patients will be evacuated from Gaza via the Rafah crossing tomorrow, adding: "This will be the first medical evacuation after the ceasefire and the first evacuation since Rafah was closed in May 2024. However, between 12,000 and 14,000 people outside Gaza urgently require specialized medical care."
Ghebreyesus noted that they continue to call for increased medical evacuations by all possible means.
