Ebola vaccination begins in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Geneva, September 14 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that vaccination has begun for frontline health workers and contacts of people infected with Ebola virus disease in the Bulape health zone of Kasai province in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a statement, the WHO said that vaccination has started in the Bulape health zone of Kasai province, where the disease has been declared an outbreak, targeting frontline health workers and contacts of Ebola patients.
The statement noted that from the pre-positioned stock of 2,000 doses of the Ervebo Ebola vaccine in the capital Kinshasa, the first 400 doses were delivered to Bulape, one of the areas most affected by the outbreak. “In the coming days, additional doses will also be delivered to the affected regions,” it added.
