European Council President Antonio Costa thanked U.S. President Donald Trump, all mediators, and everyone who continued to work tirelessly without giving up. He noted that today they celebrate hope and look forward to peace, adding:

“Today’s joint commitment brings us one step closer to a lasting peace based on a two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians live side by side, leaving no room for terrorism.

The EU fully supports these principles and stands ready to contribute to the next steps such as transitional governance, security, and the reconstruction of Gaza. We will expand our humanitarian aid as soon as conditions allow.”
