Cooper: Attacks on El Obeid must stop
London, July 3 (Hibya) – UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper called for an end to the attacks on El Obeid in Sudan, warning that the lives of thousands of civilians are at risk.
UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said in a statement on the humanitarian crisis in Sudan that civilians are facing serious human rights violations and acts of violence.
Cooper stressed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) must halt their attacks on El Obeid, describing the situation in the region as unacceptable.
She noted that the United Kingdom has raised the issue at the United Nations Human Rights Council and warned that the lives of hundreds of thousands of people remain at risk.
The statement called on the international community not to remain indifferent to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and stressed that protecting civilians must be the highest priority.
