Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese made a statement regarding the bushfires in Victoria that resulted in a loss of life.

Expressing deep sorrow, Albanese said: “We have received devastating news that one person has died as a result of the bushfires in Victoria. I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones most affected by this loss, and to the community mourning tonight.”

Referring to the teams on the ground, Albanese concluded: “We thank the emergency services and volunteers working under extremely difficult conditions during the ongoing response efforts.”
