China lifts ban on exporting certain metals to the United States
Stockholm, November 9 (Hibya) – According to a press release from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, China has temporarily lifted its ban on exporting certain strategically important metals to the United States, including gallium, germanium, and antimony.
The ban was imposed in December 2024 after the U.S. introduced new restrictions on Chinese technology companies. These metals are of strategic importance and are used in everything from advanced microchips to military equipment.
According to the announcement, the lifting of the ban takes effect immediately and will remain valid until November 27, 2026.
Gallium and germanium are key components in electronics and solar cells, while antimony is used in both industrial and military applications.
The decision on Sunday came two weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in South Korea to sign a trade agreement. The leaders agreed to reduce tariffs and lift other trade restrictions for one year.
