Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys provided information on violations of diplomatic immunity and decisions to expel Russian diplomats.

Emphasizing that diplomatic principles must not be violated, Budrys said: “A clear reminder: diplomatic privileges are not a license for abuse.”

Expressing support for Hungary’s decision, Minister Budrys said: “Lithuania welcomes Hungary’s decision to expel Russian diplomats engaged in activities incompatible with the Vienna Convention.”

Referring to the international community’s stance on Russia’s conduct, Budrys warned: “Russia must understand that actions have consequences.”

Budrys concluded his statement with the words: “Their destructive behavior cannot be tolerated and cannot be allowed to continue unchecked.”
