According to CCTV, the 16th APEC Energy Ministers’ Meeting concluded with the adoption of joint documents on energy transition and energy security.

At the meeting, ministers and representatives of APEC member economies, together with executives of international organizations, discussed energy transition, artificial intelligence and energy security. At the end of the meeting, a joint statement and three special documents were adopted.

China, as the host of APEC in 2026, presented five voluntary contributions aimed at addressing technological challenges in energy transition and urban development. Wang Jianbo, Deputy Administrator of the National Energy Administration, said the initiatives aim to help accelerate energy transition in line with local conditions, adding: “We aim to help economies reduce the costs of technological research and accelerate their transitions.”

The meeting also adopted policy recommendations on the mutual interaction between artificial intelligence and energy. Wang Hongzhi, Administrator of the National Energy Administration, said a task force would be established within the APEC Energy Working Group in this context, noting that it would provide “a new platform for technical cooperation and policy exchange.”
