Anand: We will continue working to bring Ukrainians home
Ottawa, September 12 (Hibya) — Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said international cooperation must be strengthened to enable Ukrainian children, civilians and prisoners of war under Russian control to return to their country and their families.
Anand said in her statement: “For every child separated from their family, every civilian unlawfully detained, and every prisoner of war held in captivity, a path home must be found.”
Anand said that, to contribute to this goal, Canada will bring together countries and international organizations with Ukraine and Norway at an international conference to be held in Toronto on September 28–29. She noted that the conference will address accelerating returns, strengthening the protection of people under Russian control, and improving coordination among governments and institutions.
Anand said support would also be provided for the recovery of those who have safely reunited with their families, adding: “We will continue working to bring the world together around one goal: bringing Ukrainians home.”
