Hurghada, March 28 (Hibya) – Six people died and 39 were miraculously rescued after the tourist submarine “Sindbad” sank off the coast of the Egyptian resort city of Hurghada.
The submarine sank on Thursday about one kilometer off the Egyptian coast with dozens of holidaymakers on board.
The Red Sea regional governor stated that all six victims were Russian citizens.
According to a Russian official, two of the victims were, unfortunately, children.
Authorities reported that nine other people were injured in the incident, four of them seriously.
However, 39 people survived after attempting to swim to shore as seawater began flooding the vessel about half a mile from the coast.
