Khamenei says likelihood of U.S. external attack is low
Tehran, March 31 (Hibya) – Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the possibility of an external attack by the United States is low.
In a speech broadcast live by SNN on the occasion of the end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, Khamenei said that a U.S. military attack from outside is unlikely, but if it happens, there will be a strong response. He added that if the U.S. decides to stir unrest inside the country, the Iranian people themselves will respond.
Khamenei said, "They are threatening to harm Iran. It is unlikely they can do it from outside, but if they try, they will definitely face a strong reaction. And if they decide to create unrest inside the country, the Iranian people will respond personally."
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump told NBC News that if an agreement is not reached with Iran, there would be "unprecedented bombings."
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a response letter to Trump that Tehran refuses direct negotiations with Washington over the nuclear program and that the negotiation channel can only open through mediation by third-party countries.
