Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zakharova emphasized that Russia's 2024 BRICS presidency is coming to an end, adding: "Our strategic partnership demonstrated that BRICS is not a tool of confrontation but a platform for cooperation in addressing global challenges."

She stated that Russia's presidency year marked an important step in strengthening international coordination on global governance, finance, and addressing common challenges, highlighting that the foundations for further BRICS consolidation were laid.

Zakharova added that the stable and secure export of energy resources from Russia is key to Europe's industrial and economic development: "The Nord Stream 2 pipeline served this purpose. Why could Germany not defend its sovereignty on such a vital matter?" said Zakharova.
