Weel: The people of Belarus continue their struggle despite repression
Amsterdam, October 17 (Hibya) – Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel stated that the people of Belarus are facing increasing pressure under the repressive rule of President Alexander Lukashenko.
Minister van Weel announced that he met with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya in The Hague and reiterated the Netherlands’ support for her.
In his statement, van Weel said, “For years, Sviatlana Tsihanouskaya has been the face of the struggle for freedom and democracy in Belarus. She continues to fight bravely for a free Belarus.”
The Dutch Foreign Minister emphasized his country’s commitment to democratic values and human rights, stressing that the Netherlands will continue to stand with the people of Belarus.
