European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made statements regarding the European Order of Merit award ceremony and the values of the Union.

Highlighting the collective effort behind the construction of Europe, von der Leyen said, “Our Union has been built through the efforts of all its citizens. The European Order of Merit honors individuals who deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to the European project.”

Expressing gratitude to the award recipients, von der Leyen concluded her speech by saying, “We congratulate this year’s recipients and thank them for everything they have done.”
