Tajani met with President Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq
Rome, May 19 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that he met with President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq (KRG), conveying Italy’s full solidarity against the attacks of recent months and its commitment to ensuring stability in the Middle East.

Emphasizing regional security, Tajani said, “I reaffirmed to President Nechirvan Barzani of Iraqi Kurdistan Italy’s full solidarity against the attacks of recent months and our commitment to stability, security, and de-escalation in the Middle East, including the protection of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
Referring to the importance of Kurdish authorities and minority rights, Tajani stated, “I emphasized the vital role of Kurdish authorities in Iraq’s political and institutional stability and thanked the Erbil government for the important measures it has taken to protect the Christian community.”
Pointing to economic cooperation, Minister Tajani concluded his statement by saying, “During our meeting, I reaffirmed Italy’s support for the stabilization of the country and Iraqi Kurdistan, including strengthening the bilateral economic partnership that will enable our companies to export more to Iraq.”
