UNRWA: We continue providing aid to those in need
New York, June 1 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that around 12,000 Palestinian UNRWA staff members in Gaza continue to deliver services and aid to the entire population in need.
According to the UNRWA statement, between May 21 and 27, Israeli forces issued three displacement orders affecting areas where 114 UNRWA facilities are located in Gaza, with some facilities being impacted multiple times.
The statement also mentioned that on May 26, a group of Israelis led by a Knesset member and accompanied by Israeli media entered the UNRWA compound in Sheikh Jarrah, East Jerusalem, without authorization. Israeli police who arrived on the scene failed to secure the compound.
UNRWA added that approximately 12,000 Palestinian staff in Gaza continue to serve the population in need, and over 4,000 local Palestinian staff in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, continue to provide education, health care, and other services to Palestinian refugees.
