US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders aimed at supporting hunting and recreational marine fishing in the United States. In a statement, the White House said the measures are intended to increase access to public lands, support the outdoor economy, and strengthen efforts to conserve natural resources.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the measures include expanding hunting areas, improving habitat management, enhancing migratory bird hunting permits, encouraging Sunday hunting, and supporting hunter education and youth programs. Burgum said, “Sportsmen and hunters are among our greatest conservationists.”

American Sportfishing Association President Glenn Hughes said the decision would improve management and data collection processes in marine fisheries, adding that the regulation would provide long-term benefits to 15.5 million recreational marine anglers in the United States.

National Marine Manufacturers Association President Frank Hugelmeyer also said recreational boating and fishing are important elements of America’s outdoor culture, noting that the measures would support manufacturing, employment and small businesses while also preserving access to water resources.
