Trump reacts sharply to Kennedy Center ruling: Court blocked renovation plans
Washington, May 30 (Hibya) - United States (US) President Donald Trump sharply criticized a court decision, stating that the Kennedy Center’s renovation process had been halted and that the board’s decision to rename the institution had been overturned by the court.
Debates surrounding the "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts" in Washington, D.C., have resurfaced. US President Trump stated that plans to temporarily close the center for a comprehensive renovation had been blocked.
Trump said that the judicial ruling was issued by “a judge appointed by Obama” and argued that the center had long faced financial and structural problems. He maintained that the renovation plans were necessary for building safety and modernization.
The statement also noted that the board’s decision to rename the institution as the “Trump Kennedy Center” had been invalidated by the court. Trump criticized the ruling, claiming that it was politically motivated.
Following the controversy, Trump argued that Congress should intervene regarding the future of the institution and proposed a restructuring of the center’s governance model.
These developments have sparked a new debate in the United States regarding the governance of cultural and artistic institutions and the influence of politics on them.
