Carney: More than 130,000 Canadians have served in UN Peacekeeping Operations
Ottawa, May 30 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney commemorated the service of Canadian peacekeepers around the world in a statement marking the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
Carney issued a statement on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
Carney stated that more than 130,000 Canadians have served in peacekeeping missions around the world, noting that these personnel have brought help and hope to those in need while serving under the most challenging conditions.
The statement also noted that peacekeepers who lost their lives or made significant sacrifices in the line of duty were remembered and honored for their service.
Carney emphasized that Canada's contribution to international peace operations continues.
