Trump: Iran will not have nuclear weapons, Strait of Hormuz must be opened
Washington, May 29 (Hibya) - United States (US) President Donald J. Trump stated that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons and called for the Strait of Hormuz to be opened immediately without restrictions or transit fees.
President Trump delivered strong messages toward Iran in a statement shared on social media.
Trump said that Iran must provide assurances that it will not possess nuclear weapons or a nuclear bomb. He also called for the Strait of Hormuz, which is of critical importance for global energy transportation, to be “opened immediately without restrictions and without transit charges.”
In his statement, Trump also referred to the potential danger of naval mines in the region, stressing the need to clear underwater mines and ensure the safety of maritime traffic.
Trump further referenced previous military operations concerning Iranian nuclear facilities, arguing that enriched materials should be destroyed and that the process should be carried out in coordination with international institutions.
The remarks came at a time when discussions surrounding US policy toward Iran and maritime security in the Middle East have once again moved to the forefront.
