Sybiha: Putin has no intention of ending this war
Kyiv, October 20 (Hibya) – Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war and is merely trying to buy time, saying, “The 19th sanctions package is highly likely to be one of the strongest.”
Minister Sybiha noted that a very important EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting took place ahead of the Council of Europe summit in Luxembourg and other key developments this week.
He emphasized the importance of hearing Ukraine’s real urgent needs and experiences of resistance, stating:
“Putin has no intention of ending this war; he is simply trying to buy time. That’s why we need pressure, pressure, and more pressure. This is the only thing Putin understands. Russia is trying to use the winter as a weapon against Ukraine since it failed to achieve significant results during the ‘summer offensive’. Our energy system is under heavy attack.”
Sybiha added, “The 19th sanctions package is highly likely to be one of the strongest, and its adoption will send an important signal of the EU’s strength and unity.”
