Starmer: We need to reform the welfare system
London, December 1 (Hibya) – UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that they need to reform the welfare system and remove all incentives that prevent young people from realising their potential.
Starmer noted that during the Conservatives’ time in power, welfare spending increased by 88 billion pounds: “Children were left so poor that they could not find food. Young people were written off on the grounds that they were too ill to work.”
He said that this situation imposes extra costs on the country’s economy and negatively affects productivity: “It also means an enormous waste of potential.”
Emphasising that this is a moral duty, Starmer said: “We must reform the welfare system and eliminate all incentives that prevent young people from realising their potential. Our government is doing exactly that.”
