Starmer: 20 years have passed since the Indian Ocean tsunami
London, 26 December (Hibya) - UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a statement on the anniversary of the tsunami triggered by the earthquake in the Indian Ocean on 26 December 2004.
The tsunami caused by the 9.1 magnitude earthquake in the Indian Ocean on 26 December 2004 led to the deaths of approximately 230,000 people.
UK Prime Minister Starmer, in his statement marking the 20th anniversary of the disaster, said: "Today marks 20 years since the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami that claimed many lives. My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones, the millions affected by the disaster, and all who helped in the rescue efforts."
