Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar issued a statement marking the 21st anniversary of Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza.

Saar argued that the unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, carried out 21 years ago under what was called the "disengagement plan," was a mistake.

Saar said he had opposed the decision when it was implemented, describing the process as dangerous and noting that he voted against the plan.

He also stated that the speech he delivered on the matter in the Israeli Parliament's plenary session in 2004 still reflects his views today, adding that his remarks from that time "speak for themselves."
