Russia to require 90% language proficiency for migrant children’s school admission
Moscow, April 2 (Hibya) – The head of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, stated on his Telegram channel that migrant children must correctly answer 90% of the questions in the Russian language exam to be admitted to school.
Volodin said, “We did not agree with Rosobrnadzor’s initial proposal that 30% correct answers would suffice. That has been revised. The new decision requires 90% correct answers for admission.”
According to the State Duma spokesperson, diagnostic materials for the Russian test, including the oral part, have been developed separately for each educational level.
Accordingly, migrant children in Russia must correctly answer 9 out of 10 questions for first grade, 18 out of 20 for grades 2–5, 20 out of 22 for grades 6–9, and 22 out of 24 for grades 10–11.
