According to SANA news agency, the outskirts of Hama were also targeted by Israeli airstrikes. Shortly after, a source from Al Jazeera TV stated that five strikes had been carried out on the city’s military airport. Al Jazeera reported that there were dead and injured.

A source from Israeli army radio Galei Tzahal confirmed that Israeli forces jointly attacked the Scientific Research Center in Damascus and military airbases in Homs and Hama provinces. One of the objectives was reportedly to send a signal to Ankara that establishing Turkish military bases in Syria is unacceptable.

Following the change of power in Damascus last December, the IDF began targeting military objectives of the former Syrian army. Weapon depots, military airbases, and air defense systems in various provinces were heavily attacked.

At the same time, Israeli forces established a buffer zone on the Syrian border and began actively strengthening defenses in the Golan Heights “to ensure the security of the State of Israel.”
