Ghebreyesus: 1.3 billion people with disabilities do not receive the investment they deserve
Geneva, April 3 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that 1.3 billion people with significant disabilities are not receiving the investments they need or deserve.
Ghebreyesus emphasized that despite having major disabilities, many of these individuals are often neglected in terms of the attention and investment they require and are entitled to.
Speaking at the Global Disability Summit to announce a new global initiative launched by WHO to support technical work on disability and unite organizations working in health and disability, Ghebreyesus said, “This initiative, by strengthening collaboration with civil society, will help us better tailor our work to the communities we serve and will drive change in health systems at the country level.”
