Qatar condemns Houthi attack on electricity distribution station in Medina
Doha, October 1 (Hibya) - Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Houthis' targeting of an electricity distribution station serving the Prophet's Mosque in the Saudi Arabian city of Medina.
In a statement, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it condemned the Houthis' targeting of an electricity distribution station serving the Prophet's Mosque and civilian facilities in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The statement said the attack constituted a serious assault on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, an open provocation of Muslims' feelings and a disregard for civilian lives.
The statement added that the attack was a violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and a clear breach of international law, noting that Qatar categorically rejects attacks targeting holy sites, civilian facilities and civilians.
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that these irresponsible acts must cease immediately, while affirming its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the legitimate measures the country takes to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and interests. The statement also said that Saudi Arabia's security is an inseparable part of Qatar's security and of the collective security system of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
