Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at the expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of the Eurasian Economic Union held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Putin noted that the Union has made significant progress since the signing of its founding treaty in 2014, saying, “The EAEU is generally functioning successfully and continues to develop.”

Referring to economic indicators, Putin stated that industrial production increased by 1.6 percent, agriculture by 4.6 percent, and the construction sector by 4.2 percent. He added that trade among member states reached 95 billion dollars in 2025.

Emphasizing the growing use of national currencies in trade, Putin said this provides protection against fluctuations in external markets. He also noted that efforts are ongoing to harmonize customs regulations and reduce trade barriers.

Putin stated that relations with international organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and ASEAN have strengthened, and he highlighted trade agreements with India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and Mongolia.

Concluding his remarks, Putin stressed that deepening integration in the Eurasian region remains a priority for Russia.
