Putin meets with Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Gerasimov
Moscow, April 26 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov.
President Putin listened via video link to Gerasimov’s report on the completion of the defeat of Ukrainian forces that had attacked the Kursk region.
Gerasimov stated that measures have been taken in the liberated areas of Kursk to identify members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempting to hide on Russian territory.
He noted that forested areas, basements, and abandoned buildings were being checked, adding:
“Support is being provided to local authorities to restore peaceful life. The Northern Group’s engineering units and the International Mine Action Center of the Military Engineering Academy are conducting full mine clearance and disposal of explosive devices. 19 settlements have been fully cleared and secured. 110 demining teams and over a thousand personnel are involved in the operations.”
Putin stated: “I congratulate all the military personnel who participated in the defeat of the neo-Nazi groups that invaded Russia’s Kursk region.”
