Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, in a statement marking Varazdin County Day, provided information on efforts aimed at the region's economic and social development.

Plenkovic stated that Varazdin County's revenues increased by 270 percent through fiscal decentralization measures, unemployment fell by 70 percent over the past 10 years, and the average net salary rose from 603 euros to 1,455 euros.

In the healthcare sector, Plenkovic said that the Central Operating Theatre Block of Varazdin General Hospital had recently opened, while in education, the goal of introducing single-shift schooling in the region's primary schools had been achieved.

Plenkovic noted that work to complete Justice Square in Varazdin is continuing and that prison systems are being modernized, adding that investments in transportation infrastructure are also ongoing.

Plenkovic said that, alongside the Nedelisce bypass, improving the transportation connection between Varazdin and Cakovec is among the priorities. He stated that the Croatian Government would continue to be a partner in investments aimed at the economic and social development of Varazdin County and the modernization of its infrastructure.
