Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said at the P4M Summit held at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters that the international order is at a critical juncture.

Speaking at the summit, Plenkovic said international law and the UN Charter had been called into question, citing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine as an example. Plenkovic said: “The UN Charter is not a menu from which we can pick and choose the parts that suit us; it applies to everyone and at all times.”

Stating that Croatia advocates “modern sovereignty,” Plenkovic defined it as a concept of statehood based on democratic values and international law, with strong ties to European and global partners.

Noting that multilateral cooperation should deliver tangible benefits to citizens, such as security and prosperity, open and rules-based trade, and responsible governance of artificial intelligence and cyberspace, Plenkovic said Croatia would continue to contribute to the initiative and to strengthening multilateral cooperation.
