Pakistan–China meeting: Emphasis on Iran–US understanding and regional stability
Islamabad, 16 June (Hibya) - Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chinese Communist Party Politburo member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed the understanding between Iran and the United States and discussed regional peace, energy security, and economic cooperation.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Dar held a phone call with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The two sides welcomed the understanding reached under the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the US, calling it an important step toward sustainable peace and stability in the region.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised Pakistan’s active diplomatic initiatives in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the US.
Pakistan, in turn, welcomed China’s consistent support for regional peace, particularly President Xi Jinping’s “Four-Point Initiative” and the Pakistan–China “Five-Point Initiative.”
The parties also emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz for the global economy, energy security, and international trade.
The two sides agreed to continue contacts and to strengthen cooperation under CPEC 2.0.
