Islamabad, July 13 (Hibya) – Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett, one of the candidates for the position of United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, and reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to multilateralism and its support for the UN's central role in the international system.

According to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar emphasized his country's commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and highlighted the importance of preserving the UN's effective role in international relations.
Dar also stressed the need to respect international law and international agreements, as well as the full implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. In this context, he particularly referred to the issues of Jammu and Kashmir and the developments in Palestine.
During the meeting, expectations were also expressed regarding reforming the United Nations to better address emerging global challenges and to respond more effectively to the needs of developing countries.
