German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made statements regarding Russia’s recent increase in military activity and air attacks across Ukraine.

Stating that Russia’s stance contradicts peace efforts, Merz said: “Russia’s most serious attacks against Ukraine in a long time show that Moscow relies on escalating tensions instead of negotiations.”

Emphasizing that they stand by Ukraine, Merz said: “We will continue to stand by Ukraine.”

Merz stated that Ukraine and its allies are seeking a diplomatic solution but have not received a response, concluding his remarks with the following words:

“Kyiv and its partners are ready for negotiations for a just peace. But Russia continues the war.”
