German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that they welcome the United States’ efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Merz added: “We particularly welcome the United States’ commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and its willingness to provide strong security guarantees to Ukraine.”
Merz emphasized that they remain in close contact with their European partners and the United States, adding: “Our common goal is to protect the vital interests of Europe and Ukraine on the basis of the line of contact and Ukraine’s strong defense capability.”
