Macron: A just and lasting peace begins with a full and unconditional ceasefire
Kyiv, May 10 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Ukraine wants peace, but Russia is not willing to engage.
President Macron emphasized that the Ukrainian people have been resisting bravely for more than three years.
Highlighting that the response to Russia’s aggression must be collective, Macron said: “We are taking this trip together with Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom.”
Macron conveyed three key messages related to this visit:
“First, peace. A just and lasting peace begins with a full and unconditional ceasefire. This is the proposal we made with the United States. Ukraine accepted it on March 11. Russia, however, is delaying, setting conditions, buying time, and continuing its war of occupation. If Moscow maintains its blockade, we Europeans, in close coordination with the United States, will increase the pressure. We welcome President Trump’s call to take this step.”
“Then sovereignty. Any peace agreement must guarantee security. We have worked on this in meetings held in Paris, London, and today in Kyiv. We are moving forward together.”
“And finally, the future. Ukraine is fighting for its people, but also for the European ideals we believe in. A free, strong, prosperous, and European Ukraine – that is our vision.”
