Leyen: Strengthening climate resilience in the Caribbean through the Global Gateway program
Brussels, November 6 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the Caribbean region is facing the devastating impacts of climate change, sending a message of solidarity to the region.
Addressing Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, von der Leyen emphasized that under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, weather forecasting systems are being strengthened through Copernicus satellites.
The Commission President highlighted that as natural disasters become increasingly frequent, more ambitious climate goals are needed, adding that this COP Summit must serve as a turning point where real implementation steps are taken.
