Leyen: Europe and Japan are reliable friends in an uncertain world
Brussels, October 29 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made a statement following her first meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Von der Leyen emphasized that Europe and Japan are reliable friends, saying: “In today’s uncertain world, friendship is more important than ever. We stand together for open economies, safe societies, and fair rules.”
She noted that both sides are deepening cooperation in trade, economic security, and critical raw materials through the “Competitiveness Alliance,” and agreed that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific region is becoming increasingly interconnected.
