Lazzarini: The agency's work brings stability in a climate of deep uncertainty
New York, January 28 (Hibya) - Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), stated that the agency's work brings stability in a climate of deep uncertainty.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini addressed the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
Highlighting that community acceptance is critical to maintaining humanitarian intervention and the ceasefire in Gaza, Lazzarini said, “Palestinians trust UNRWA. For them, UNRWA means doctors and nurses providing healthcare; workers delivering food; and engineers and technicians building and repairing wells for clean drinking water.”
Lazzarini emphasized that the agency's work brings stability in a climate of deep uncertainty, adding:
“The relentless attacks on UNRWA harm the lives and futures of Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories. They erode their trust in the international community and jeopardize any hope for peace and stability.”
