Joint statement by 8 countries on Gaza and the Rafah crossing
Islamabad, 5 December (Hibya) — The foreign ministries of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar responded to Israel’s statements on the Rafah Crossing, stressing their firm opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.
The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar expressed deep concern over Israel’s remarks on the unilateral opening of the Rafah Crossing. The statement emphasized that any plan to transfer Gaza residents to Egypt is unacceptable and firmly rejected the forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
The ministers called for full adherence to U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan, stressing that the Rafah Crossing must remain open in both directions and that the freedom of movement of Gaza’s population must be ensured. It was underlined that Gaza’s residents should not be forced to leave their land, but that conditions must be created for reconstruction and stabilization of the region.
The joint statement highlighted the need to fully uphold the ceasefire, ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Gaza, and begin early recovery and reconstruction efforts. It also noted that conditions must be created for the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities in Gaza.
The statement further emphasized cooperation with all regional and international partners to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and to advance a two-state solution based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
