Israel announces strikes on suspected chemical weapon sites in Syria
Jerusalem, December 9 (Hibya) – Israel confirmed that it carried out airstrikes in Syria targeting chemical weapon sites and missile positions.
According to the BBC, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that this was done to prevent weapons from falling into the hands of extremists following the fall of the Assad regime.
Media reports indicate that Israel carried out dozens of airstrikes in the past two days, including on a site in Damascus allegedly used by Iranian scientists for missile development.
The Israeli airstrikes coincided with a warning from the United Nations chemical weapons observer urging Syrian authorities to secure suspected chemical weapon stockpiles.
