The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that two commanders from Hamas' Nukhba unit were neutralized in an airstrike carried out in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the IDF statement, the strike was conducted last night and targeted Ali Shamallah, who was alleged to have served as deputy battalion commander in Hamas' Nukhba unit.

The IDF claimed that Shamallah trained militants who planned attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces operating in the area and worked to advance those attack plans.

The statement added that Nasser Luh, identified as the leader of the Nukhba team in Hamas' Sabra Battalion, was also neutralized in the strike.

The IDF said the individuals posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces operating in the area and that the airstrike was carried out with precision.

The statement also noted that IDF Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operations to "eliminate immediate threats."
