Healey: I want the Defence Investment Plan to succeed
London, June 30 (Hibya) - UK Defence Secretary John Healey said he wants the Defence Investment Plan to succeed, stressing that it should be not only a spending plan but also a growth and reform plan that supports British industry.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey provided information on the country's new defence strategy, ongoing work within the Ministry of Defence, financial support provided, and the economic and strategic objectives of the plan.
Thanking those who contributed to the preparation of the plan and referring to the budget support, Healey said: "I want the Defence Investment Plan to succeed. I thank the Ministry of Defence officials who have worked so hard on this over the past months. I also welcome the additional funding and focus provided by the Treasury over the past few weeks."
Highlighting that the plan has not only military but also structural and global dimensions, Healey stated: "The Defence Investment Plan is not simply a spending plan aimed at transforming the British Armed Forces to meet growing threats. It must also be a growth and reform plan that supports British industry, innovation, and jobs for communities across the United Kingdom."
Healey also expressed his hope that the plan would demonstrate British leadership, stating that it "must provide the British leadership our allies are looking for."
