United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres congratulated Major Abhilasha Barak, recalling that she served in Lebanon as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force.

Referring to the importance of Major Barak’s work, Guterres said: "Her work demonstrates the critical role played by UNIFIL and how its presence transforms the lives of women and girls even under the most challenging conditions."

Highlighting Major Barak’s exemplary service in the peacekeeping mission, Guterres stated: "Major Barak, you are a role model for the people you serve and those with whom you serve. Thank you for your service."
