Guterres calls for restraint in the Gulf
New York, 28 January (Hibya) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern over military movements in the Gulf region and called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint.
According to CCTV, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged all parties to show maximum restraint following reports of escalating tensions and military buildups in the Gulf region.
UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated that the Secretary-General is deeply concerned about reports of military fortifications in the area.
Dujarric said in a statement: “The Secretary-General believes that all concerns related to Iran can best be addressed through dialogue, diplomacy and negotiations. In this context, he welcomes all efforts aimed at de-escalation and calls on all actors to take concrete steps to strengthen regional confidence.”
