Guterres calls for increased climate adaptation financing
New York, September 25 (Hibya)-United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for tripling climate adaptation financing to address the impacts of droughts, storms and heatwaves, and for early warning systems to reach everyone in the world by 2027.
Guterres said in a statement on his social media account that failure to adapt to climate change causes droughts to turn into hunger crises, storms into debt crises and heatwaves into loss of life.
Guterres said climate resilience must be incorporated into every policy, budget and infrastructure decision, stressing that adaptation financing should be tripled and early warning systems should reach every person in the world by 2027.
